Profile


Department of Botany, North Gauhati College established in the year 1979 is a hub of academic and research excellence. Dr. Nolin Chandra Borah was the founder Head of the Botany Department. His contributions was instrumental in Pioneering the establishment of the Science Stream in the North Gauhati College. With a dedicated team of faculty members deeply engaged in scholarly pursuits, the department offers undergraduate programs in B.Sc. Honours and Generic streams, alongside a Higher Secondary course. Equipped with a comprehensive academic infrastructure, including essential instruments and samples, the department ensures students have the resources for hands-on learning. Faculty members actively participate in research and social initiatives, enriching students educational experience and fostering a sense of community engagement. Regular field trips provide students with practical exposure to botanical studies, enhancing their understanding of ecological principles. Through its holistic approach to education and research, the Botany Department empowers students to become conscientious stewards of the environment. Each Year the students and faculty of the department collaborate to publish the wall magazine "Dubori," which was initiated in the year 2002.
